Nov. 29, 2007

MILWAUKEE - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee head men's swimming coach Dave Griffore has announced the signing of five high school seniors to National Letters of Intent today.

Schuyler Boggio of Falcon Heights, Minn., Brady Huemann of Burnsville, Minn., Matthew Rose of Brookfield, Wis., Nolan Sinkler of Chanhassen, Minn., and Gregory Wise of Stillwater, Minn., were added during the early signing period by Milwaukee and will compete for the UWM men's swimming team next season.

The class is the second for Griffore, but the first where he has been able to spend the full year recruiting after being hired in August of 2006.

Boggio has earned All-American honors as a member of his 200 freestyle relay team at Roseville High School. He has also received All-American consideration in the 400 free relay and helped his team to an eighth-place finish at the Minnesota State meet as a junior. He placed seventh in the 100 butterfly at that meet and was a member of the 200 free relay team that placed second and the 400 free relay team that finished fifth.

"I am extremely excited about the addition of Sky," Griffore said. "We feel we have a great one and I look forward to seeing his results from his senior year in the pool later this year."

Huemann helped lead Burnsville High School to a state championship last season as a junior. He placed sixth in the 100 backstroke and 16th in the 200 individual medley at the meet and also helped his team to a sectional championship.

"Brady comes from a great background and swims for my former club coach and high school teammate," Griffore said. "After talking to his coaches, there is no question he will get much better as he gets older and we're looking forward to getting him into the program."

Rose attends Brookfield Central High School and swims for the Brookfield East/Central swim team. His team placed seventh overall at the state meet last season, where he took sixth in the 100 breaststroke and was a member of the third-place 200 medley relay team.

"The addition of Matt will help us fill the hole in our breaststroke events," Griffore said.

Sinkler led Minnetonka High School to a fifth-place finish at the state meet last season, placing fifth in the 100 butterfly and seventh in the 200 IM. He has also received All-American consideration in the 200 freestyle relay. As a sophomore, his team won conference and sectional titles and went on to finish 11th at the state meet.

"Nolan is very good in the individual medley and is also a great butterflyer," Griffore said. "He will excel wherever we put him and those are the type of kids we like to have."

Wise has received All-American honors in both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay at Stillwater High School. Last season, he led his team to a fourth place finish at the state meet. He was a member of the 200 medley relay team that finished second as well as taking eighth in the 100 butterfly and ninth in the 200 IM in his individual events. He also placed fifth at the state meet in the 200 IM as a sophomore.

"Greg will play a big role for us in the IM and the butterfly events," Griffore said. "He has a great work ethic and we are looking forward to great things from him next season."
