UWM Men Looking To Repeat At Doug Coers InvitationalNov. 17, 2006
MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior Chase Gravengood highlighted the efforts of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming & diving team on Friday at the Doug Coers Invitational. After day one, UWM sits in second with 189 points. Host Ball State is currently in first with 237 points, while IUPUI rounds out the field with 104. Gravengood won the 200 IM in a season-best 1:57.34, with junior Jeremy Seibel giving Milwaukee two of the top three by taking third in 2:01.23. Gravengood was also part of the winning 400 medley relay team, coming in at a season-best 3:34.48. Seibel and juniors Tyler Jefferson and David Yugo made up the rest of the winning team. The 200 free relay team missed a win by less than a second, getting touched out in a season-best time of 1:29.01. That relay line-up consisted of Yugo, junior Tom Heitkamp and freshmen Ed Lichinsky and Lucas Tanel. Other top finishers for Milwaukee included Jefferson in the 50 freestyle in third place (22.42), sophomore Robby Leibold in the 500 free in third and senior Corey Kupfer was the top diving finisher for the team, taking fourth on the one-meter board with a season-high 263.05 points. The Panthers look to defend their team title at the meet's conclusion tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m.
