Dec. 3, 2004

NEW YORK - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee standout soccer player Antou Jallow was one of 66 players selected to participate in the 2005 adidas Major League Soccer player combine the league announced here Thursday (Dec. 2). Jallow will take part in the event which will be held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California from January 8-11, 2005.

Jallow finished his illustrious UWM career as the school's all-time leader in goals scored with 60 while finishing second all-time with 133 career points. Jallow, the Horizon League's all-time goals scored leader, led UWM and the league with 18 goals and 41 points while leading Milwaukee to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this season.

A two-time Horizon League Player of the Year, Jallow also holds Panther school marks for goals in a season (24) and goals in a game (4). The Uppsala, Sweden native was recently named one of 11 players on the ESPN First-Team Academic All-America squad.

General managers and coaches of all 12 MLS teams will be in attendance at the combine where they will scout the talent and run participants through a variety of drills. The event will be held just a few days before the 2005 MLS SuperDraft which will take place in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, January 14. The draft will also coincide with the NSCAA Convention at the Baltimore Convention Center.

The field of players was determined by a select panel of Division I college coaches in conjunction with MLS coaches and the consultation of select Division II, Division III and NAIA coaches. A total of 47 different colleges are represented among the 66 players.

Jallow is looking to become the third Milwaukee player to get drafted in the MLS, joining Tighe Dombrowski (5th round, San Jose, 2004) and Chad Dombrowski (5th round, Chicago, 2003) as MLS draftees. UWM currently has three alums playing in the MLS with Tighe Dombrowski playing for San Jose while Manny Lagos and Tonny Sanneh both compete for Columbus.
