Fernstrum Earns Spot On National All-Rookie Team

Top Drawer Soccer recognizes freshman goalkeeper

Nov. 15, 2005

MILWAUKEE - Freshman goalkeeper Grant Fernstrum of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team has been named a member of the Top Drawer Soccer Men's College Soccer All-Rookie Team, the website announced on Monday.

Fernstrum, who was named MVP of the Horizon League Tournament this past weekend, has played a prominent role in the success of the Panthers this season. He has made 14 starts since earning the starting job in mid-September, going 9-2-3 with nine shutouts, a save percentage of .898 and a miniscule 0.40 goals against average.

His GAA ranks second in the nation, just behind the 0.395 of Akron's Evan Bush. He will bring a 360-minute scoreless streak into UWM's First Round NCAA Tournament match against Bradley on Friday night.
