Fundraising For Lights At Engelmann Field Nears CompletionApril 13, 2006 MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is poised to add a whole new dimension to its nationally ranked men's and women's soccer programs with the addition of lights at Engelmann Field. As you know, Engelmann Field is a great asset to the UWM soccer program and the university. However, despite the over-whelming success and national rankings of the men's and women's programs, we are placed in the bottom 25% of the nation's soccer venues simply because we do not have lights. The lighting system for Engelmann Field is a state of the art, four pole system by Musco Lighting Company. Musco Lighting is a leader in stadium and field lighting and utilizes the latest technology. Their superior lighting system cuts operating costs in half and significantly reduces the amount of light pollution into the nearby neighborhoods. Chancellor Carlos Santiago is fully behind this effort and we anticipate groundbreaking for the lights to begin in May or June. It is the goal of the Athletic Department and the University to install the lights for the fall 2006 soccer season. The final phase of fundraising for this exciting project is currently underway and we hope you will consider being a part of it.
