MILWAUKEE - Senior Paul McGinley (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln HS) was named MCC Athlete of the Week today.

McGinley earned his recognition thanks in part to his second-place finish in the javelin (179-9) last Saturday at the Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill. The meet was McGinley's first action since injuring his hamstring in February at the 2000 MCC Indoor Championships held at the Klotsche Center.

McGinley becomes the fifth Panther to earn conference honors during the calendar year and the second straight UW-Milwaukee track and field athlete to earn Midwestern Collegiate Conference Outdoor recognition. Liz Pesch (Brownsville, Wis./Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs HS) was honored last week by the MCC.

During the Indoor season, freshman Stephanie Kenesie (Bristol, Wis./Kenosha St. Joseph HS) and juniors Jon Manke (Green Bay, Wis./West DePere HS) and Nicole Wee (Soldiers Grove, Wis./North Crawford HS) were named MCC Athletes of the Week.
