UW-Green Bay Athletics Shines Again in the Classroom with Eight Horizon League All-Academic Selections

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay athletics department was a leader in the classroom among Horizon League institutions this fall, as eight Phoenix student-athletes received All-Academic Team honors by the league in their respective sports Thursday. Green Bay's eight honorees tied for the league lead along with Butler and Loyola.

Women's soccer standout Stephanie Gross (3.835, Human Development, Psychology) was named to the academic all-league team for the third straight year. Gross was joined by two-time honoree senior Dixie Schubert (3.775, Human Development, Pyschology) and first-time selection junior Lotte Rasmussen (3.955, Psychology) on the women's soccer team, giving UW-Green Bay the most on the 11-member squad.

Senior Sarah Rauen (3.844, Human Biology/Pre-Med) and junior Betty Slinger (3.877, Human Biology/Pre-Med) were both named to the volleyball academic all-league team for the second straight year for the Phoenix.

Two runners represented UW-Green Bay on the women's cross country academic all-league team in sophomore Whitney Mack (3.798, Human Biology) and senior Erin Stache (3.976, Chemistry).

On the men's cross country side, senior Nathanael Brown (3.833, Political Science) complimented his second-team all-Horizon League honors from last month with his first-ever selection to the academic all-league listing.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with Academic All-League teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for academic all-league consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution having earned 24 semester-hour of 36 quarter-hour credits.
