Meissner Named Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Senior women's tennis standout recognized for excellence on, off court



Amy Meissner was named the Horizon League's female scholar-athlete of the week March 6.

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Amy Meissner, a senior on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women's tennis team, has been named the Horizon League women's Scholar-Athlete of the Week, League commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone announced Tuesday (March 6). Meissner and Cleveland State University sophomore Rob West (men's tennis) were recognized for their action in the classroom and in competition.

Meissner went 3-1 last week, a record that included two wins at No. 3 doubles with teammate Laura Bartingale. Meissner also had a three-set win at No. 6 singles, rallying from a one-set deficit to win against Wright State 2-6, 6-0, 6-0.

In the classroom, Meissner owns a 3.829 grade-point average majoring in Spanish with a double minor in business administration and education. She has been recognized on the Horizon League's Honor Roll and UW-Green Bay's Dean's List.
