GREEN BAY, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women's soccer team (8-6-2, 3-3-1) out-shot the visiting Detroit Titans Sunday afternoon but the Phoenix could not convert on eight shots on goal as it lost its home finale, 1-0.

The loss was the first setback for the Phoenix this season at Santaga Stadium in nine outings and was just the third loss for UW-Green Bay on its Senior Day in program history. Detroit, who has won 14 of 16 meetings with the Phoenix, improved to 8-9-0 on the year and 4-2-0 in Horizon League action.

UW-Green Bay fired 16 shots in the game, including 10 during a wind-aided first half. But just eight of the 16 shots were on goal, as Detroit's Katie Fortenberry made all eight stops.

The Titans posted the lone goal of the game in the 82nd minute, when Horizon League leading scorer Mary Parker headed home her 14th goal of the year on a corner kick. It was one of just two corner kicks in the game for Detroit, compared to four for the Phoenix.

UW-Green Bay just missed tying the game in the 88th minute when Jennie Gorwitz gathered a through ball and got behind the Detroit defense, but was unable to get a shot past Fortenberry at the near post.

Phoenix goalkeeper Brooke Wikgren finished with three saves in the setback. UW-Green Bay also had 10 fouls to Detroit's seven.

UW-Green Bay still has an outside chance to host a first round Horizon League Championship game Oct. 28, but the Phoenix needs help from Detroit. The Titans take on Wright State Wednesday, and a Wright State loss could give the Phoenix the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
