Women's Soccer Shut Out By Marquette 5-0

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The UW-Green Bay women's soccer team fell behind early and could not recover as the Phoenix dropped a 5-0 decision to in-state foe Marquette Tuesday evening at Valley Fields. UW-Green Bay drops to 7-5-2 overall while Marquette improves to 8-5-4.

The Golden Eagles got on the board just 1:35 into the contest when Allison Mallams tallied her eighth goal of the season. The host side then bumped its lead to 2-0 in the 38th minute when Alison Laughrin gave Marquette a two-goal advantage at the break.

Marquette added goals in the 55th, 63rd and 88th minutes to insure the home win. MU out-shot UW-Green Bay 24-5 in the game, including a 13-2 advantage in the first half.

UW-Green Bay goalkeepers Brooke Wikgren and Charla Buxbaum combined for eight saves on the night, while Marquette's Laura Boyer made three saves.

The Phoenix returns home Friday for a Horizon League match against Cleveland State at 7 p.m. at Santaga Stadium.
