Men's Soccer Awaits UIC Sunday for Horizon League Title

GREEN BAY, Wis. - For the second straight year, the Green Bay men's soccer team will play for a chance to compete for an NCAA tournament berth Sunday when the Phoenix takes on UIC at 1:30 p.m. at the Loyola Soccer Park in the championship game of the Horizon League Championship.

Sunday's championship game is the third in program history for the Phoenix, as Green Bay looks to return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 1983 season.

Scouting Green Bay: Tosaint Ricketts (Edmonton, Alberta) scored the game's only goal with 50:01 gone in the contest. He has six goals this season, with five being game-winning strikes.

For the second straight game, the Phoenix defense held a top 10 player scoreless. Loyola's Michael Ferguson, who was ranked third in the country in scoring, had just two shots in the game. In the team's three shutouts in the Horizon League Championship, Green Bay has given up just seven shots on goal.

Adam Stikl (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished with four saves in the team's 12th shutout of the year. David Prochazka (Gothenburg, Sweden), Rosenberg, Glenn Herzog (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Ray Hibbler (Janesville, Wis.) aided in the defensive effort.

For the second straight year, Green Bay reached the 10-win plateau, marking the 17th time in the program's 39-season history the team has reached the statistical milestone. Along with the team's record-setting 12 shutouts this year, the team is also on track to finish in the top five in team history in goals-against average.

Scouting UIC: The Flames (10-5-5) needed extra time to knock out No. 2 seed Milwaukee Friday, defeating the Panthers 1-0 four minutes into the first overtime. Jovan Bubonja has nine shutouts on the year and a 0.52 goals-against average, while Cesar Zambrano leads offensively with six goals and five assists for 17 points.
