Men's Golf Takes Butler Fall Invitational Title



Garrett Gosh fired a three-under 68 Tuesday to aid Green Bay in claiming the Butler Fall Invitational title.

INDIANAPOLIS - Tied after two rounds on Monday, the Green Bay men's golf team put the field away in Tuesday's final round of the Butler Fall Invitational to take the tournament title of the six-team event at Eagle Creek Golf Course.

Green Bay's four scorers all shot under par in the final round to take the championship by nine strokes over the University of Indianapolis.

Sophomore Brady Mork (Menomonie, Wis.) shot one-under 70 on Tuesday to place second overall with an even-par 213, finishing five strokes back of tournament medalist Justin Hueber of Indianapolis.

But Green Bay's strength Tuesday was in its team effort, as the team combined to shot seven-under 277 in the final round. Garrett Gosh (Pewaukee, Wis.) fired a Tuesday-best three-under 68 to jump from 13th to sixth place, while Adam Austreng (Shawano, Wis.) shot two-under 69 to leap from a tie for 21st to a two-person tie for ninth.

Travis Meyer (River Falls, Wis.) also was on the move, as his one-under 70 lifted him to fourth place after finishing Monday's action tied for seventh.

Freshman Bo Van Handel (De Pere, Wis.) shot a two-over 73 to move up from 24th to a tie for 18th place. Carson Solien (Madison, Wis.) was an unattached golfer for the event and finished 18th overall with an 11-over 224.

Green Bay will wrap up its fall season Oct. 8-9 at the IPFW Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind.
