Phoenix Student-Athletes Continue to Shine in the Classroom



Phoenix student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA over 3.0 for the 15th straight semester.

GREEN BAY, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-Green Bay student-athletes continued their trend of excelling in the classroom, posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.14 during the recently completed spring semester. It marked the 15th consecutive semester that Phoenix student-athletes have teamed up to post a GPA over 3.0.

Of the 216 Green Bay student-athletes, a remarkable 26 of them posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring. In all, 73 individuals (33.8 percent) achieved Dean's List honors for the semester by recording a GPA of 3.5 or higher. A total of 139 student-athletes (64.3 percent) posted at least a 3.0.

"As always, we are extremely proud of our student-athletes' accomplishments in the classroom," Director of Athletics Ken Bothof said. "To post 15 straight semesters with a GPA over 3.0 is an incredible feat and wouldn't be possible without the commitment to academics shown by our coaches and staff.

"A special thanks also goes out to the University faculty and staff who continue to do an amazing job with all of the students on campus."

Nine of the 15 sport programs put together a team GPA of 3.0 or above, led by the women's volleyball team which put together an impressive mark of 3.64. The women's tennis team, which stretched its streak of consecutive semesters over a 3.0 GPA to 24 along with the women's swimming and diving team, was close behind with a 3.61. Also of note, the women's basketball team went beyond a 3.0 for the 21st straight semester.
