Feb. 7 -- After losing four consecutive matches to Top 15 ranked opponents, the No. 27 ranked Waves broke into the win column on Thursday afternoon as the Waves defeated visiting Cal Poly by a final score of 6-1 at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

Pepperdine swept all three doubles matches by convincing margins, and then won five of six singles matches to improve to 2-4 in dual match action.

Cal Poly's record slipped to 3-2.

Sophomore Charlotte Vernaz posted a 4-6, 7-5 (10-8) win at No. 1 singles. After splitting sets with Angie Bagheri, Vernaz rallied from an 8-3 deficit to win the final seven points of the 10-point tie-breaker.

Pepperdine takes a one-week break before returning to action next Thursday (February 14) afternoon with a 1:30 p.m. dual match against local rival UC Irvine.
