Dons Edged by San Diego 4-3 in WCC First Round
April 21, 2007
The USF women's tennis team, trailing 3-1 when the match was suspended by rain Friday, rallied to tie the contest but fell 4-3 to San Diego in the first round of the WCC Championships Saturday afternoon at Pepperdine University. USF's Joana Macedo won in straight sets and Jenny Sperry won in three early Saturday to pull fourth seed USF even at three points. It came down to the doubles point and although Camille Pamart and Mylene Martin won 8-1 at number one singles, the fifth seeded Toreros won the second and third doubles to take the match. The Dons will face Gonzaga Saturday at 2:45 in the consolation bracket.
