Christine Sinclair scored two goals Friday and Lauren Orlandos added a goal and an assist as #3 Portland beat Pepperdine 3-1 in West Coast Conference soccer action.

The loss dropped Pepperdine to 10-4-3 overall, 2-4 WCC play and marked the Waves' first home defeat of the season, snapping the Waves' 10-match unbeaten streak dating back to last year.

Portland (15-3-0 overall; 4-2-0 in WCC), concludes the regular season Sunday at Loyola Marymount.

Friday, Sinclair moved into fourth on the all-time Portland freshman scoring list with 40 points and 17 goals. Her goal in the 32nd minute off a through-ball from Orlandos, was Sinclair's fifth game-winner this season, and gave Portland a 2-0 lead.

Pepperdine closed within a goal in the 61st minute, but Sinclair put the game away in the 78th minute with her second goal of the day - and fourth multi-goal effort in the last six Portland games.

Orlandos got Portland off to a 1-0 lead at 24:31 with a bomb from 22 yards out after the ball popped out of a scramble in the Waves box.

Sinclair's 17 goals this season are three off the frosh record of 20 (Tori Rogel in 1990), and just behind Shannon MacMillan‚s 19 (1992), and Tiffeny Milbrett‚s 18 (1990).
