Christine Sinclair scored two first-half goals Sunday, leading Portland (14-3-0/3-2-0) to a 3-0 West Coast Conference win over Gonzaga (0-13-2/0-5-0). Sinclair scored 7:12 into the match, and after a Betsy Barr goal in the 28th minute, Sinclair capped Portland‚s scoring at 37:14. Portland outshot the Bulldogs 28-5 in the match, forcing nine saves from Gonzaga's Brooke Longacre. Sinclair's first goal was started by Erin Misaki's through-ball into the box. The perfect lead-pass found Sinclair alone to the right of the goal, and the Canadian freshman angled her shot far post past Longacre. The score doubled at 27:54 when Barr pounded home a deflected cross. Longacre had punched away Portland's cross from the endline, but the ball popped out to Barr at the top of the box. With Longacre shielded in traffic, Barr had an easy 12-yard shot. Emily Patterson‚s slick leading pass was one-touched by Sinclair for Portland's 3-0 lead. Cristin Shea made five saves for Portland's shutout.
