Picarelli, Woods Invited to US Soccer Under 21 Women's National Team Camp
Jan. 10, 2006 Malibu, Calif. - Pepperdine seniors Megan Woods and Anna Picarelli have been invited to participate at the US Soccer Under 21 Women's National Team camp, the organization announced on Monday. The camp runs from January 14-21 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Woods and Picarelli are two of 30 collegiate players nationwide to be selected to train with US Soccer in preparation for the Nordic Cup to be held during the summer in Norway. Woods was named first team All-West Coast Conference (WCC) and to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas and Soccer Buzz' All-American third teams after helping lead Pepperdine to a 15-4-3 overall record and to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament this past fall. The senior forward from Carlsbad, Calif., turned in the second-most prolific season in school history during 2005 as she totaled 34 points with 12 goals and 10 assists. Woods concluded her Pepperdine career ranked second on the school's all-time lists in points (85) and goals (31) while tying for second in assists with 23. Picarelli, a resident of Downey, Calif., totaled eight shutouts this season and concluded her Pepperdine career ranked first on the school's all-time lists in shutouts (33.0), saves (319) and goals-against average (0.81). She was named a second team All-WCC selection and was named to Soccer Buzz' All-West Regional second team.
