San Diego shut out WCC rival Saint Mary's 7-0 on Saturday, while Santa Clara picked up its first victory of the new season with a 4-3 win over Bay Area rival San Francisco. LMU won five of six possible championships at the Cal State LA Tournament, while Portland fell to 41 ranked Oregon and 61 ranked Boise State. lt;pgt; lt;bgt;LMU at Cal State LA Tournamentlt;/bgt;lt;brgt; The Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team completed an impressive showing at the 004 Cal State L.A. Invitational on Sunday as they won five of six championships at the annual tournament. lt;pgt; The Lions claimed the championship in every doubles flight, giving up a total of four games in the three title matches. In Flight 1 of doubles action freshman Kimi Kaloi and junior Carla Arguelles walked away with the title, defeating the team of Dehlia Feliz and Katrina Holmberg of Cal Poly Pomona 8-0. In three matches during the tournament, Kaloi and Arguelles dropped just three games. lt;pgt; In Flight , sophomore Patrycia Hubl and freshman Serena Fermin took care of business just as quick, defeating the team of Folgetova and May of Alliant International, 8-1. The Lions completed the doubles sweep with freshmen Robyn Baker and Tamara Tanner defeating Godoy and White of Cal State L.A. 8-3 in the Flight 3 championship. lt;pgt; The Lions finished taking two of three individual titles as the freshman Kaloi won her first collegiate tournament with a 6-, 6-3 win over Silvana Stans of Cal State L.A. in the Flight -6 championship. lt;pgt; Hubl had to go through teammate Erin Ivey to win the Flight 3-4 championship, defeating the freshman 6-3, 6- for the title. lt;pgt; In Flight 1-, Arguelles dropped a heartbreaker to the defending champion of the tournament from 003, Katalyn Nagy of Cal State Bakersfield, 6-3, 7-. lt;pgt; lt;bgt;Oregon 7, Portland 0lt;/bgt;lt;brgt; The University of Portland women146;s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 41 ranked University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. on Friday, Feb. 6. The Pilots fall to 0- on the season. lt;pgt; The Ducks continue to roll and remain unbeaten on the season. Kaori Tanabe won Portland146;s only set of the morning in her 6-1, -6 (10-), loss to Oregon146;s No. 3 singles player Jamie Marshall. We won at the No. 3 spot and the highlight was Kaori Tanabe, she won three sets, the only Portland singles victory. She did an amazing job. She is our only senior and she sets the standards high. Romero handed Lambert her third loss of the season when she won, 6-4, 6-. lt;pgt; Saint Mary's sophomore Kate Harden, who earned her first victory of 004 on Thursday, February , suffered her third loss of the season as well, when she fell in straight sets to San Diego State's Dita Hauerlandova, 6-1, 6-4. lt;pgt; Saint Mary's Megan Schulman fell at the 3 position to San Diego State's Indra Erichsen, 6-1, 6-. At the 4 position, the Aztecs' Patricia Graf defeated Kristen Kummer by the score of 6-3, 6-1. At the and 6 positions, Nicole Hunstock dropped her match to Alesya Vidov 6-1, 6-1, and Dunya Stankovic fell to Julie Litrich 6-3, 6-. lt;pgt; In doubles action, the duo of San Diego State's Erichsen and Romero, the No. 36 ranked doubles pair in the country defeated Saint Mary's Hunstock and Lambert in a hard fought match, 8-6. At the doubles, San Diego State's pair of Vidov and Hauerlandova defeated Saint Mary's duo of Schulman and Stankovic by the score of 8-. Saint Mary's only win on the day came at the 3 doubles where Harden and Kummer combined to beat Sarah Sansom and Graf 8-3. lt;pgt; lt;bgt;San Diego 7, Saint Mary's 0lt;/bgt;lt;brgt; The 46th-ranked USD Toreros earned their first victory of the season with today's 7-0 victory over visiting Saint Mary's College. Sophomore Lauren Perl, ranked 41st in the nation, won at No. 1 singles and teamed with freshman Jenna Anderson to win their No. 3 doubles match.
