(College Station, TX) - USD junior All-America Pierrick Ysern (Paris, France) won his second round match today at the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Individual Championships with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Somdev Devvarman (Chennia, India), a freshman from the University of Virginia. Ysern, ranked 10th in the nation, survived two rain delays, the second which lasted 3 hours, in dismantling the 30th ranked Devvarman. With the first set knotted at 4-all, Ysern returned from the 3-hour delay to win the next two games to close out the 6-4 win. The delay bode well for Ysern as he also won the first 3 games of the second set on his to a 6-1 victory. All in all he won 8 of 9 games after the rain delay.

On Friday Ysern (23-6 singles record) will take on junior Ryler DeHeart of Illinois, the tournament's 7th seeded player who owns a national ranking of 8th. DeHeart advanced with a come-from-behind 5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Arnaud Lecloerec of Virginia Commonwealth. Ysern faced DeHeart this past October at the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships in 2nd round action and came away with a 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 victory.
