Pierrick Ysern Advances To 2nd Round of Tennis Championships
May 25, 2005 (College Station, TX) - USD junior Pierrick Ysern (Paris, France) won his first round match today at the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Individual Championships with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory over North Carolina junior Raian Luchici. Ysern, ranked 10th in the nation and seeded 9-16 in the championships, broke serve in game six of the third set to go up 4-2. He quickly closed out the match after that to advance to Thursday's second round. On Thursday he'll take on Virginia freshman Somdev Devvarman (Chennia, India), currently ranked 33rd in the nation. Devvarman advanced with his 6-3, 6-1 win over junior Robert Searl of Rice.
