Apr 16-The Pepperdine women's tennis team completed its regular season schedule on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-1 homecourt win over Sacramento State at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu. The Waves will now prepare for the 64-team NCAA Championships beginning on May 9, 2003. Pairings and seedings will be announced on April 30.

The Waves, ranked No. 53 nationally in this week's Omni Hotels listing, improved to 12-13 overall. The visiting Hornets dropped to 12-7.

Pepperdine won two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point, and then captured five of the six singles matches to secure the victory.

Junior Charlotte Vernaz rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Roberta Fessenko at No. 1 singles.

The Waves secured a berth to the NCAA Championships last Sunday with a 4-1 win over San Diego in the title match of the West Coast Conference Championships.
