Apr 6-The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team pulled off its second straight upset with a 4-3 win over No.33 Oregon on Sunday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Courts. Earlier in the week, the Lions handed No.54 a similar fate in what was a rematch of last years West Coast Conference Championship match. The Lions improve their record to 10-8 overall and 6-1 in the West Coast Conference.

LMU was off to rocky start losing the doubles point. The Lions dropped both the No.1 and 2 doubles spots giving Oregon a 1-0 lead going into singles play. LMU's No.3 duo of Jennifer Baker and Georgina Dinham avoided the sweep of all three doubles spot defeating Oregon's Jamie Marshall and Anna Leksinska, 8-3.

The Lions climbed back into it with a straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, win by Penka Fileva at the No.2 singles spot, but only for a short time. The Ducks quickly regained the lead, 3-1, after winning both the No.1 and 3 singles spots in straight sets.

LMU was not done yet though. The Lions tied things at 3-3 with wins from Baker and Dinham. Baker downed Marshall, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, at the No. 4 spot while Dinham defeated Ester Bak, 7-6, 1-6, 6-2, at the No. 5 spot.

With the match riding on the outcome of the No.6 singles spot, it came down to LMU's Hubl and Oregon's Julie Merle. Hubl, no stranger to being the deciding point, cruised to a straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, win giving the Lions their 10th win of the season.

The Lions have finished their regular season dual competition schedule. LMU will travel to Malibu next weekend for the WCC Tournament hosted this year by Pepperdine University. Seedings and match times will be announced by the conference office on Thursday, Apr. 10.
