Apr 3-Pepperdine snapped a six-match losing streak on Thursday afternoon as the Waves defeated Abilene Christian by a final score of 6-1 in a dual match played at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
The Waves, ranked No. 54 nationally, improved to 7-12. Abilene Christian, 20-4, had a five-match winning streak snapped. The Wildcats are ranked No. 9 nationally among NCAA Division II programs.
Pepperdine swept all three doubles matches and captured all five singles matches that were contested, including four in straight sets. Abilene Christian picked up its lone point at No. 6 singles as a result of a forfeit.
The Waves host No. 33 Oregon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
Pepperdine appears to be rounding into better physical condition heading into next weekend's West Coast Conference Championships that will be contested April 11-13 in Malibu.
Senior Monika Horvath has been playing doubles on a consistent basis, while sophomore Veronika Koksova has been cleared to play and saw action today for the first time in several weeks. Freshman Natalie Braverman is also expected to be in the Pepperdine line-up next weekend.
