Apr. 3 -- The USD men's tennis team, with an overall record of 9-9, moved up twenty spots to 44th in the nation in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, released today. Senior Ricardo Rizo (Guadalajara, Mexico) is currently 107th in the nation in singles. The doubles rankings will be released on Thursday -- senior Juan Cerda (Santiago, Chile) and sophomore Jason Pongsrikul (San Diego, CA), are currently ranked 27th in the nation with their 11-6 spring record. The Toreros, winners of six of their last eight matches, knocked off #35 Northwestern by the score of 4-3 on March 26th for their biggest win to date this season. USD, which is 9-2 on its home courts (USD West Tennis Courts), do not return to action until Tuesday, April 9th (1:30 pm) when they host #32 San Diego State. USD will close out its regular-season dual match schedule with a home date against UC Irvine on Saturday, April 13th (12:30 pm). After that USD will participate in the West Coast Conference Championships at Saint Mary's College (April 19-21).
