The Waves, who honored seniors Charlotte Vernaz and Karin Schlapbach during Senior Day 004 pre-match ceremonies, rolled on to a 7-0 shutout against Loyola Marymount Tuesday afternoon and improved their record to 11-9 overall and -0 in West Coast Conference (WCC) play. The Lions fell to 9-11; both teams travel to the WCC Tennis Championships this weekend at Saint Mary's. In singles action, Pepperdine's top player, No. 33 Natalie Braverman, earned a hard fought, 4-6, 6-4, (10-3), victory against LMU's Carla Arguelles. Caroline Raba defeated Robyn Baker with ease, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. position and No. 98 Vernaz cruised past Kimi Kaloi, 6-, 6-0. At No. 4 and singles, Merve Asimgil and Eva Dickes took home wins versus Serena Fermin and Patrycia Hubl, respectively. Asimgil won, 7-, 6-4, and Dickes grabbed a 6-0, -7, (11-9)victory. Pepperdine rounded out the sensational seven's sweep when Lise Sissler chalked up a win against Tamara Tanner, 6-0, 6-3. lt;pgt; lt;Pgt;13; The Waves wasted no time and took home the doubles point with a sweep. At No. 1, Vernaz and Raba defeated the Arguelles/Kaloi tandem, 8-6, and Braverman and Asimgil beat Fermin and Erin Ivey, 8-, respectively.
