March 13-In a busy day of WCC women's tennis, Loyola Marymount blanked Gonzaga 7-0, Pepperdine fell to Baylor 4-3, and USF was beaten by Cal Poly 7-0.

LMU 7, Gonzaga 0
The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team defeated Gonzaga University, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Courts. The Lions swept all three doubles spots and all six singles spots improving their record to 5-6 overall and 4-3 in West Coast Conference action with the win. With the loss, Gonzaga falls to 5-6 on the season.

LMU started off with a bang sweeping all three doubles spots. The No. 3 doubles team of Georgina Dinham and Jennifer blanked Gonzaga's team of Connie Head and Leigh Orne, 8-0. The Lions secured the doubles point as Edit Pakay and Diana Vinis downed GU's Kendall Bates and Katie Rock, 8-1, at the No.2 spot. LMU's No.1 duo of Penka Fileva and Patrycia Hubl finished off the sweep for the Lions with an 8-6 victory over Jamie Buterbaugh and Aaryn Volkman.

With a 1-0 lead after the doubles competition the Lions roared through singles play winning five of the six spots in straight sets. LMU's Pakay beat Buterbaugh, 6-3, 6-3, at the No.1 spot. Fileva brought home the win at the No. 2 spot defeating Volkman, 6-0, 6-0. Dinham and Vinis stood strong at the No. 3 and 4 spots, respectively. Dinhamn handed Bates a , 6-1, 6-0, loss while Vinis easily handled GU's Rock, 6-2, 6-2. Hubl picked up the fifth straight sets win for the Lions. Playing at the No. 6 spot, she defeated Orne, 6-1, 6-0. Baker's match at the No.5 spot was the only one to go to three sets. She finished off Williams 6-0, 0-6, 6-4.

Baylor 4, Pepperdine 3
Stephanie Balzert rallied for a 4-6, 6-5, 6-4 win over freshman Merve Asimgil at No. 2 singles and clinched a come-from-behind 4-3 win for visiting Baylor over host Pepperdine on Thursday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Baylor, ranked No. 42, improved to 5-6 in dual match action, while No. 48 Pepperdine dropped to 6-7.

The injury plagued Waves were forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches due to injuries, but still nearly managed to pull off a victory. Pepperdine clinched the doubles point when Asimgil and sophomore Karin Schlapbach recorded a 9-8 win at the No. 2 slot over Anna Moncolova and Vida Mulec.

Senior Monika Horvath and junior Charlotte Vernaz both recorded straight sets wins to give Pepperdine a 3-1 lead, but Baylor stormed back to claim the final three matches to seal the victory.

Cal Poly 7, USF 0
The Cal Poly women's tennis team picked up its 10th win in 11 matches with a 7-0 win over San Francisco in a non-conference match at Mustang Courts on Thursday afternoon. The Mustangs (11-4) won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches and took all singles matches in straight sets against the Lady Dons (10-1) who dropped their first match of the season.

The Mustangs controlled the doubles matches, as Danielle Hustedt (Irvine, CA) and Kate Romm (Dana Point, CA) picked up an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles match over Gabi Ruiz and Anna Skogerboe. The Mustang team of Kristen Grady (Temecula, CA) and Chelsy Thompson (Dana Hills, CA) won by the same score in the No. 3 doubles match over Michelle Duncan and Stpehanie Chang.

In sweeping the singles matches, Hustedt won the No. 1 singles match wiith a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ruiz. In the No. 3 singles match, Thompson also won by a large margin, defeating Carey Savage, 6-2, 6-0.
