Santa Clara University's men's soccer dropped a heartbreaker on Friday night in Buck Shaw Stadium, falling to No. 7 Washington by a score of 1-0 in overtime. Zach Kingsley scored the game-winner for Washington (7-1-0) off of an assist from Billy Sleeth at the 103:30 mark. Sleeth sent the ball from deep in the corner all the was across to the far post where Kingsley headed the ball into the back of the net beating Santa Clara freshman netminder, Steve Cronin. The goal for Kingsley was his second of the season. Santa Clara (4-5-0) played an aggressive style all night long, committing 25 fouls to Washington's 11, but could only manage seven shots against the tough Huskie defense. Cronin played well in goal before giving up the late goal, making six saves of which three were spectacular diving stops. Washington's Chad Olsen made three saves between the pipes on the evening, including two game-saving stops against Jamil Walker and Scott McLain in the first half. Walker and McLain each unloaded low, hard shots that required Olsen to make quick diving saves.
