September 30-Senior All-American Katherine Hull established a program first when she became the first Pepperdine women's golfer in school history to be ranked No. 1, moving into the top spot in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings released on Monday.
After tying for individual medalist honors at last weekend's Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Hull improved her rating to 69.59. Through two tournaments this season, Hull has a 71.67 stroke average in six rounds.
Pepperdine, which began the year ranked No. 12 in the Golfweek ratings, moved up to No. 10 this week after tying for second place at the Dick McGuire Invitational. The Waves have a rating of 73.75. The Waves began the year ranked No. 4 in the Golfweek preseason poll and No. 5 by GolfWorld. The rating system is based on a mathematical formula that uses a player's won-lost-tied record against other players when they play on the same course on the same day, and the stroke differential between those players, then links all players to one another based on common opponents. The ratings give an indication of who is playing well over the past 52 weeks.
Pepperdine is next in action when it travels to Henderson, Nevada, to compete in the UNLV Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout beginning on November 11.
