May 30-Pepperdine sophomore Michael Putnam completed a banner sophomore season by finishing in a four-way tie for 12th place on Friday at the NCAA Championships hosted by Oklahoma State at the Karsten Creek Golf Complex in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

After opening the four-day, 72-hole tournament on Tuesday with a round of six-over par 78, Putnam posted rounds of 75, 71 and 72 to compile an eight-over par total of 296.

Putnam earned an individual berth to the NCAA Championships after placing second at the NCAA West Regional Championships two weeks ago at the Washington National Golf Course in Auburn, Washington.

Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State captured individual medalist honors with a one-under par total of 287. He carded a score of three-under par 69 today to defeat runner-up Lee Williams of Clemson by two shots.

Williams held the individual lead heading into Friday's final round, but posted a score of five-over par 77 today.

Matthew Rosenfeld of Texas and Chris Stroud of Lamar tied for third place with two-over par totals of 290.

Top-ranked Clemson won the team title with a score of 39-over par 1191, two strokes better than host Oklahoma State. UCLA finished third at 45-over par 1197. Florida and Wake Forest tied for fourth place with team totals of 1198.
