Sophomore Carolina Llano , a two-time West Coast Conference (WCC) "Golfer of the Year," was named a 2003-04 second team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association, it was announced on Monday.
Llano, a native of Medellin, Columbia, led Pepperdine to its third straight WCC title and sixth overall and a berth in the NCAA West Regional Championships in 2004. The Waves finished 12th at the regionals and concluded the year ranked 26th nationally by Golfweek.
Llano posted a career-low stroke average of 73.53 in 30 rounds and was No. 16 in the final Golfstat national rankings. She also was No. 8 in score versus par. Llano twice captured individual medalist honors, registering victories at the NCAA Fall Preview Tournament at The Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Alabama, and the WCC Championships at Riverbend Golf Club in Madera, California.
Llano carded a total of eight rounds under par, including five scores in the 60s. She shot a career-low score of 66 during the final round of the NCAA Fall Preview Tournament.
