Mar. 2 -- The No. 2-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs defeated the No.7-seeded Loyola Marymount Lions 82-64 in menÕs basketball first round action at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The Zags improve their record to 27-3, while the Lions drop to 9-20. The win marks the fifth straight year Gonzaga will play in the WCC Tournament semi-finals. Senior guard Dan Dickau led the Zags with 17 points.

Four additional Gonzaga players scored in double digits, with forward Zach Gourde and center Cory Violette leading the contingent with 16 points each. Violette was 8-of-13 from the field and grabbed a game-high 10 boards in 29 minutes of play. Alex Hernandez and Kyle Bankhead both added 11 points a piece to the win.

Senior forward Greg Lakey led the Lion charge on offense with a game-high 18 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Lakey also grabbed a team-high eight boards for LMU. Kent Dennis also scored in double figures for Loyola Marymount, posting 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting.

As a team, LMU never missed a shot from the free-throw line, going a perfect 16-of-16.

Gonzaga will have to wait until the conclusion of todayÕs other three quarterfinal match-ups to find out who they will face in the semis. Semi-final action begins tomorrow, March 3, at 6:30 p.m. following the WomenÕs Championship between No.1-seed Pepperdine and No. 2-seed Santa Clara.
