Feb. 25 Gonzagas Dan Dickau became the second straight Bulldog to be named the WCC Player of the Year as the WCC All-Conference Team was announced today by the league office. Its only the fourth time that two different players from the same school have won the award in consecutive years. Also earning top honors was Pepperdine center Cedric Suitt. Suitt, less than a week off being named to the WCC All-Academic team, was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Year. Suitt was one the premier shot blockers in the WCC this season and becomes just the fourth player in league history to receive the honor. Coach of the Year honors go to Gonzaga head coach Mark Few for the second straight season. Few has led the Zags to their highest ever rankings in the national polls and a fourth conference title in the last five years. Pepperdine freshman Terrance Johnson is the conference Freshman of the Year after becoming the top scoring freshman this season and one of the top long-distance shooters in the league. Johnson filled in nicely at the two-guard spot vacated by NBA first round draft pick Brandon Armstrong last season. Joining Dickau as a repeat All-WCC first team performer is San Franciscos Darrell Tucker who was a first team honoree, while also earning WCC Freshman of the Year honors in 2000. This years All-WCC first team features eight newcomers, including just two underclassmen. 2002 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
