Feb. 8-Junior forward Jimmy Miggins registered team-high totals of 18 points and seven rebounds helping host Pepperdine win its 11th consecutive game Friday night, as the Waves outlasted San Francisco by a final score of 79-72 in front of 2,946 fans at Firestone Fieldhouse.

Pepperdine's 11-game winning streak matches Western Kentucky for the second-longest among NCAA Division I schools. Xavier has won 12 in a row.

Junior guard Devin Montgomery scored 14 points and handed out four assists, as the Waves improved to 16-6 overall and 9-0 in West Coast Conference (WCC) play.

San Francisco had its modest three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 11-11 overall and 6-3 in WCC action. Junior forward Darrell Tucker registered a double-double for the Dons with game-high totals of 20 points and 12 rebounds to go along with two assists and two blocked shots.

Pepperdine took the lead for good at the 8:53 mark when two free throws by Miggins gave the Waves a 58-56 lead. Junior guard Gary Colbert capped the 10-2 scoring run with a steal and lay-up to push the Waves' advantage to 66-58 with 7:22 remaining.

A basket by senior guard Craig Lewis helped Pepperdine gain a 10-point lead at 73-63 with 4:13 left, but the pesky Dons stayed close as the Waves failed to convert from the foul line.

Pepperdine made only 4-of-10 foul shots in the final 53 seconds to make the game interesting.

Freshman guard Michael Chambers buried a three-point basket for the Dons with 22 seconds remaining to pull San Francisco within a 76-72 count.

Miggins made one free throw with 17 seconds to play to extend the Waves' lead to five points, and following a San Francisco turnover, Montgomery made two more foul shots with 11 seconds to play for the final margin.

Pepperdine led by as many as nine points in the first half at 26-17 following a three-point basket by Lewis with 8:04 left, but San Francisco rolled off a 20-11 scoring run and the game was knotted at 37-37 at the break.

The Waves have won seven consecutive games against San Francisco and 10 of the last 11 meetings between the longtime rivals.

Freshman guard Terrance Johnson and Lewis each totaled 10 points for Pepperdine. Junior guard Shamell Stallworth totaled 12 points for the Dons, while senior center Hondre Brewer contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots for San Francisco.

Pepperdine shot 41.5 percent from the field (27-of-65) and held the Dons to a 38.3 percent mark from the floor (23-of-60). San Francisco won the rebounding battle by a 45-44 margin, but the Waves were +8 in the second half.

The Waves completed the weekend homestand tomorrow evening with a 5 p.m. contest against St. Mary's. The game will be televised live by Fox Sports West 2
