Jan. 12-The USF Dons, down 14 points with 7 1/2 minutes to play missed two close in shots late in the game and fell to visiting Pepperdine 74-68 Saturday night.The Waves were led by four players in double figures, while Darrell Tucker paced USF with 15 points and 10 rebounds, his eighth double-double of the year.

The Dons fell , behind 10-1 early, got back to within three points, but then trailed 35-26 at the half. USF made just 6 of 17 first half shots, including 0-6 from three-point range.

The Dons trailed 65-51 with 7:30 left when they started their rally, on a dunk and free-throw by Darrell Tucker. The Dons were down by just one with under a minute left when Darrell Tucker's short shot rolled off the rim. After a Pepperdine free-throw, LyRyan Russell broke through the Waves defense and took a short layup that spun off the rim, a shot that would have tied the game. The Waves finished the game with four free-throws.

Pepperdine (9-6, 2-0 WCC) was paced by Boomer Brazzle's 16 points and Devin Montgomery's 15.

Tucker paced USF (6-9, 1-1 WCC) with 15 points and 10 rebounds, LyRyan Russell added 14, John Cox added 13 points. Hondre Brewer had nine points, seven rebounds and five blocks.
