The entire 64-team NCAA Championships field will be announced Monday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. (PDT) and be televised live by ESPN2.

This year’s WCC Championship series features the familiar face against the newcomer as the WCC defending champion Pepperdine Waves meet the San Diego Toreros, who are making their debut in the league finals.

The Waves were streaky throughout the season , but turned it on at the right time in what was one the most heated division races in league history. A four-game sweep of Saint Mary’s two weeks ago catapulted Pepperdine into the driver’s seat to compete for its 15th conference championship.

The Toreros lived up to expectations this season, earning their first division title in school history. Led by ace pitcher Ricky Barrett, San Diego finished with its best overall record since going 36-17 in 1993.

Pepperdine will host the championship by way of winning the regular season series between the two teams, 2-1 (4-3, 5-16, 7-1). In fact, since 1985, the Waves have yet to lose a season series to the Toreros, holding a 72-22 advantage over the last 17 years.
