The Santa Clara women's cross country team held off host Sacramento State in the women's five-kilometer reace to win the Sacramento State Invitational. Sacramento State and Cal finished second and thrid, respectively; while Saint Mary's finished fourth and San Francisco, fifth.

Santa Clara women had four runners in the top 10 at the meet led by Jenny Smokey, who finished third overall with a time of 19:13. Annie Gastelum (19:32), Robin Bell (19:51) and Milena Basile (19:55) round out the top four Bronco finishers.

Saint Mary's top women finishers include Allegra Porter (18:50-second), Strada Morris (19:57-10th) and Bethany DeMore (21:15-19th).

Laura Danner-Baird (19:53-eighth) and Marcie Lole (20:51-15th) were San Francisco's top finishers.

In the men's race, Cal finished first, with Santa Clara a close second. Sac State, San Francisco and Saint Mary's placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Individually, Santa Clara's Thomas Chapman finished first (21:21), with Benjamin Gauen coming in fourth (21:24).

Travis Biziorek took 20th with a time of 23:08 for Saint Mary's; while San Francisco's top finisher was Thomas Revane, who ended the race in 23:14 for 21st place.
