Argonauts Set to Host Region Tournaments

April 25, 2007

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The road to the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis National Championships will begin this weekend at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. On Wednesday, it was announced that West Florida will be one of two schools in the south region to host the first two rounds of the national tournament.

The men's and women's team will both host their region tournament on Thursday and Friday, May 3-4. This is the ninth consecutive season that the men's and women's teams will host the first two rounds of the national tournament.

In men's action, top-ranked and top-seed West Florida (23-3) will face fourth-seed Alabama-Huntsville. If the Argonauts win, they will advance to Saturday's regional final against the winner of the Delta State/North Alabama match.

On the women's side, top-seed and fifth-ranked West Florida (17-6) will host Tuskegee. A victory would advance the Argonauts to the regional finals against the winner of the North Alabama-Harding match.

Both men's and women's matches on Thursday will begin at 10 a.m. The finals matches are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday.
