VALDOSTA, Ga. - Facing their second top five team in as many days, top-ranked West Florida dominated fourth-ranked Drury, 7-2, on Sunday. West Florida (15-2) won their second straight, while Drury (7-1) dropped to 1-5 all-time against West Florida.
After West Florida won two of the three doubles points, both teams were involved in several competitive singles matches. Four of the six singles matches went three sets, with West Florida winning three of the four three-set matches. Diego Zorzi (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Nicolas Barrientos (Cali, Colombia) and Luiz Bernardi (Campinas, Brazil) dropped the second set of their matches, but each player recovered to win the third set.
The Argonauts will be off for the next eight days. West Florida will return to action against BYU-Hawaii on Wednesday, Mar. 28. The match will begin at 2 p.m. at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
