Casey Gierke returns to West Florida following his best and final year as a player with the Argos. In his senior year, he posted a career best .285 batting average with 20 RBI. He belted nine doubles in 2003 as a freshman. Through four years, Gierke was the mainstay at the catcher position. He started 161 games behind the dish for UWF.

Gierke lettered in three seasons at Apopka High School. He is the son of Chip and Carolyn Gierke. His older brother Shane played at UWF for two seasons, and is now in his second year as assistant coach. Gierke majored in sport management.
