Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina's Shari Harder has been named the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 15.
Harder, a senior setter from Waukesha, WI (Catholic Memorial HS), notched two triple-doubles this weekend in leading the Catamounts to the Union State Bank/Samford Invitational championship with wins over Samford, UAB and South Alabama. She had a .521 hitting percentage for the weekend, along with 27 kills, 44 digs and 119 assists in 12 games. For her performance in these three matches, Harder was also named the MVP of the Samford Invitational. She currently ranks second in the SoCon in hitting percentage (.321), fifth in assists per game (9.96), and seventh in digs per game (3.52).
Western has now won six straight matches and two straight tournament titles. The Cats return to action at home against UNC Asheville on Tuesday at 7 pm in the Ramsey Center before heading to Atlanta to compete in the Georgia Tech Tournament this weekend.
