Boone, N.C. - Western Carolina, who defeated Appalachian State 3-0 earlier this season, duplicated the feat Thursday night (30-22, 30-14,30-20) at ASU's Holmes Center.

The Catamounts bolted to a 10-6 lead in the first game and led by as many as nine at 29-20 before closing out the first game by a 30-22 margin.

Game two started out by Western taking a 11-8 advantage. The Cats extended their lead to 20-9, which forced an App State time out. After the time out, Western continued to pour on the attacking as it built a 26-14 lead en route to a 30-14 decision in game two.

In game three, Western again built an early 5-1 advantage. Appalachian responded by drawing close at 8-7 but could not take the lead as the Catamounts went on a 10-3 run to increase the score to 18-10. Appalachian then shaved the lead to five at 20-15 but Western Carolina bounced back to post the 30-20 win.

Western Carolina was led by Christy Attebery as she registered 13 kills. Freshman Stefanie Peters also had a productive match as she tallied 10 kills. Bri Milan-WIlliams dished out 17 assists for the Catamounts.
