Cullowhee, N.C. - The Southern Conference has announced that Western Carolina freshman Natasha Moore has been named the SoCon Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 2. The voting results were recently released due to last week's Labor Day holiday.
Moore, a freshman and Fountain, S.C., native, scored all three goals in WCU's 3-1 victory over Florida International on Aug. 30. One goal was assisted by senior Kelly Barker, one assisted by junior Lauren Bramlett and the other coming off an FIU deflection. The hat trick was the first of her career and only the third in school history.
"This was a wonderful way for Natasha to start off her college career," said head coach Debbie Hensley. "I expect her to receive many more accolades in the coming years. Her efforts were a great compliment to the way the entire team played in that tournament. I give credit to the whole team for that award as well."
The team travels to Clemson, S.C., next to take on Tennessee and Butler in the Clemson Invitational on Sept. 13 and 15 respectively.
