Tiffany Hamm Tabbed SoCon Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina senior Tiffany Hamm has been selected the Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 17. This is the second time this season and fifth time in her career she has received this honor. Hamm was selected as this year's first Player of the Week, a feat which she also accomplished in her junior year.

A forward from Harlan, Ky., Hamm led Western Carolina to two conference wins last week. She started the week with 23 points and nine rebounds in an 80-65 win over archrival Appalachian State on Feb. 11. Hamm shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from the floor against the Mountaineers. She finished the week with 16 points and eight boards in a 66-44 win over UNC Greensboro on Feb. 14. Hamm hit seven-of-13 shots (53.8 percent), including a trey, while picking up two assists on the night.

For the week, Hamm averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 58.6 percent (17-29) from the floor. She also picked up three assists and a steal while shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line.

The senior currently leads the league with 16.2 ppg for the season as well as in defensive rebounds, grabbing 6.30 per contest. Hamm also ranks second in overall rebounding (8.5 rpg), 11th in field goal percentage (.467) and is tied for 12th in offensive boards (2.17/gm). She additionally leads the SoCon with eight double-doubles on the season. (All stats and standings are through Feb. 16 games.)
