Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Sophomore Tripp Morrow carded a 140 -- the fourth-lowest, 36-hole total in WCU history -- to become just the ninth Catamount to win an individual title as Western Carolina also won the team championship at its own Shoot-Out at Wild Wing, played at Wild Wing Resort in Myrtle Beach this weekend.

Morrow, who fired a four-under 68 on Saturday, shot an even par 72 today to win the event by five strokes. The last time a Catamount won individual medalist honors was last fall when Tim Eckberg won Elon's fall event. It marks the third top 10 finish for Morrow, who has played in 25 career events.

Morrow's 140, combined with a two-over par 146 by Chase Kress (fourth-tie), helped Western Carolina win the team title as well, carding a 587 for two rounds and marking just the fourth time the Cats have won a team title. Western shot a 285 on day one, the second-lowest, single-round team score in school history, while the Cats' 587 ties for the fourth-lowest, 36-hole score in school history.

Sophomore Alex Arrigo, playing in his first event of the year, had rounds of 74-77 to place 14th (tie) with a total of 151. He was followed by Blake Wray (153, 20th-tie) and Matt Dowdy (157, 35th).

Tusculum placed second with a team score of 599, followed by Radford (602) and Appalachian State (603). Tusculum's Nick Kinzer carded a one over 145 to tie for second along with Coastal Carolina's Zack Amole, who was playing as an individual.

In addition to Amole, several other individuals played well. Coastal's Christian Smith and Brad Robinson each tied WCU's Kress for fourth, while Coastal's Lindsay Renolds tied for eighth. Western's Keith Tyburski carded a 74 on Sunday as he and teammates William Forcier and Brian Hogan each tied for 17th with totals of 152.

Western Carolina will conclude its fall schedule next week, hosting the annual WCU Invitational, played Nov. 7-9 at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Cashiers, N.C. It will mark the second consecutive year the annual event has been played at Sapphire Valley.
