The Western Carolina men's golf team stands in seventh place after 36 holes, firing a 597, in the 14-team field at East Carolina's 2005 Fall Intercollegiate, played at the par 72 Bradford Creek Golf Course. Matt Cook is currently leading the Catamounts, standing in a tie for 14, after shooting one-over par 73 in each of his two rounds Monday.
Host team East Carolina leads the field by seven strokes, carding a 574. Charelston Southern, High Point and Campbell are each tied for second as the two schools turned in a score of 581. Boston College is fifth with a 589, followed by Presbyterian (596) and Western (597).
Individually, Boston College's Robert Reed carded rounds of 67-71 to lead the field with a two-round total of 138. Charleston Southern's Stuart Carrihill is second with his 139, followed by East Carolina's Chris Ault (140).
Senior Blake Wray was four strokes back of his teammate and is tied for 33rd with his two-round score of 150 (75-75). Matt Dowdy posted a 151 (75-76) to tie for 37. The Cats' scoring was rounded out by Tripp Morrow (152; 40th-tied) and Bill Forcier (154; 43rd-tied).
The two-day event will be completed on Tuesday with 18 holes.
