Spartanburg, S.C. - In his first tournament back from injury, Western Carolina sophomore Andres Cuenca carded a pair of rounds under par, shooting 70 and tying his career-low round of 66 on Monday afternoon to lead the Wofford Invitational at the Carolina Country Club. With two golfers in the top 10 after two rounds, the Catamounts stand in third place, five strokes in arrears with 18 holes to play.

The third and final round begins with tee times at 8:30 am, with the first Catamount golfer set to take the course at 10:00 am on the front nine with Cuenca teeing off at approximately 10:36 am.

One of eight golfers to record an Eagle on Monday, Cuenca is tied for third with nine birdies and also leads the tournament in par 4 scoring, shooting five-under (3.75) on the mid-range holes. His 66 on the second 18, which was equaled by Jacksonville's Russel Knox, and the 136 score through two rounds equal the third-lowest second round totals in tournament history. A native of Fuengirola, Spain, Cuenca holds a two-shot edge over South Carolina's Mark Silvers, who is playing as an individual, and a pack of three players, including Knox, three shots back.

WCU junior Matt Cook looms five strokes back in a five-way tie for eighth after shooting 68 in the opening round and 73 on the second 18 for a 141. Cook shot one-under on the par 4 holes and has eight birdies through 36 holes. Rounding out the Catamounts' scorers on Monday were senior Tripp Morrow in a tie for 41st (73-76=149), freshman Ricky Stout (T-49th, 78-73=151) and his classmate, Patrick Lamb (T-59th, 79-75=154).

Playing as an individual in his first tournament in nearly a month, freshman Cody Walker shot two rounds of 73 to stand tied for 27th.

Southern Conference foe, Elon, leads the 14-team event in the clubhouse after 36 holes. The Phoenix carded a five-under 571 (287-284) as a team on Monday to hold a one-stroke advantage over second-place, Charleston Southern (291-281=572). Western Carolina shot 289 and 287 to stand third with an even-par, 576, two strokes ahead of fourth-place, Wofford, with Jacksonville, Gardner-Webb and Francis Marion all tied for fifth at three-over (579).
