WCU Men's Golf Places Seventh at The Citadel invitational

Summerville, S.C - Western Carolina carded a two-day total of 616 (315-301) to place sixth - in a 14-team field - at The Citadel Invitational, played Mar. 11-12 at Pine Forest Country Club. The Catamounts, who moved up five spots on the final day, have placed in the top 10 in five of their six events this season.

Greg Lewis shaved 10 strokes off his first day total to led WCU. The senior from Stanley, N.C., had rounds of 81-71 for a total 152 and a 17th-palce finish. Western's top four golfers were tightly grouped leading to its solid finish. Clay Kilgore shot 155, Lee Cline shot 156 and Andrew Paduch shot 158.

Elon (591) edged Jacksonville in a playoff to win the team event, while Jacksonville's Ben Lockwood (140) took home individual medalist honors, defeating High Point's Gordon Hughes and South Carolina's Nash Elliott in a playoff.

Western Carolina will resume play Mar. 22-24 at the Furman Intercollegiate, played on Furman University's Golf Course.
