Alice Perkins Wins Four Free Tickets to the WCU-App State Football Game

Nov. 3, 2002

Cullowhee, N.C. - Alice Perkins, of Winston-Salem, N.C., is this week's recipient of four free tickets to a Catamount home game after his question was picked in the weekly ÒAsk Kent BriggsÓ promotion. Perkins, who has won tickets to the Appalachian State game, asked Western's first-year coach, ÒWith the open date, what will be your practice schedule and will the players have a day or two off to see their families?Ó

Coach Briggs's reply was the following. ÒFirst of all, this is the first open date this coaching staff has experienced together. Therefore, we might play it a little by ear. We plan to start next week with about the same routine. We plan to have a light practice Sunday to work out the kinks from the VMI game and review the game tapes with the players' position coaches. We plan to take Monday off and have a couple of days of practice to work on problem areas and add few wrinkles. Then, we'll let the players have a long weekend to see their families. We will have them back next Sunday to start App Week.Ó

Western will host Appalachian State at 3:30 pm on Nov. 16 before a Fox Sports Net South television audience. Don't forget to show your ÒPurple PrideÓ on that day. Purple Pride t-shirts are available in the WCU athletics department, online at catamountsports.com, the WCU bookstore, Simple T's and WNC SportsZone in Franklin and Waynesville.

The Western Carolina Department of Athletics will give four free tickets for the App State game to a lucky fan two more times. To qualify, simply click the ÒAsk Kent BriggsÓ icon on catamountsports.com and submit your question. If your question is answered, you win.
