WCU's McQueeney To Miss At Least 3 Weeks

Oct. 7, 2005

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina backup quarterback Michael McQueeney will be out for at least three weeks as he was diagnosed with mononucleosis, Catamount head football coach Kent Briggs announced today.

McQueeney, a true freshman from Charleston, S.C., and product of Bishop England HS, had played at least one series in each of Western's first four games, completing 4-of-9 passes for 21 yards. In his absence, senior quarterback Josh Lee (Kannapolis, N.C./A.L. Brown HS) will be listed as the backup to starter Justin Clark.

The Catamounts, ranked 29th in the nation, will travel to Statesboro, Ga., this Saturday (Oct. 8) to face the 21st-ranked Georgia Southern Eagles. Kickoff is set for Noon. For those who can not make the trip, the game can be followed in various television markets on CSS TV (Charter/Comcast Sports Southeast). Check local listings for availability in your area.

If CSS is not available in your area, the game will be broadcast on the Catamount Sports Network, which includes radio affiliates in Asheville (WZNN, 1350 AM), Cullowhee (WWCU, 90.5 FM), Franklin (WFSC, 1050 AM), Hendersonville (WTZQ, 1600 AM) and Sylva (WRGC, 680 AM). If you are out of those media markets, fans can follow the game on the internet at www.wwcufm.com (free), www.supertalk1350.com (free) or www.catamountsports.com (subscription). The pre-game radio show starts 45 minutes prior to kickoff.
